Item doesn't work and I want to return it.

What type of item did you purchase @jersey1609 .  What was the category the seller had the listing listed in?

If you received an item that is not as described, you have up to 30 days to open a return using the option next to the transaction in your Purchase History. The seller will have 3 business days to provide a prepaid return shipping label or else refund. If he does neither, go back to the case on day 4 and use the option to ask eBay to step in. They will force the refund.

You don't need to contact Ebay to help you.  This is something you can easily do on your own.

Go and take a look at your purchase history. You can find it on the top right of any Ebay page. Hover over the words My Ebay. A menu will appear, click on Purchase history. Find the transaction. Look to the right there is likely to be a large blue box you can click on that says Return This Item.

OR

eBay Help page
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/reporting-item-didnt-receive?id=4042
1. Go to Purchase history.
2. Select More actions beside your item and then Return this Item.
3. Now you select the reason you are requesting the return for refund.
4. You have the option of adding a message to the seller.
5. Select Send request.

Item doesn't work and I want to return it.

I have over 7400 Feedback and over 14 years on eBay. So, I know how returns are supposed to work. But, when I try to return this item, I get a notice across the top of the page that the seller does not accept returns of this item - DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT CLEARLY STATES IN THE DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM THAT RETURNS ARE ACCEPTED. I HAVE GONE AROUND AND AROUND AND AROUND AND AROUND USING THAT RETURN BUTTON TO NO AVAIL. NOWADAYS IT IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR A SUCKER BUYER TO CONTACT EBAY. THAT'S WHY I NEED EBAY TO HELP ME - N O W!!!

That is the entire problem - I CANNOT OPEN A RETURN!!!  I have over 7600 Feedback and over 14 years on eBay, so I know how returns are supposed to work!!!  I have gone around and around and around and around with the return fiasco key. Each time I try to start a "Return", I get a message that the seller does not accept return of this item. The description of the item clearly states that Returns are accepted. That's why I need to contact eBay - if there is anyone home!!!  You stated how "Returns" are supposed to work - but, it ain't working in this instance!!!

@jersey1609

No need to get upset with me.  But if it is important to you to compare stats, I've been here for about 23 years and have 31,674 FB as a seller.  Which is not even near the amount of transactions I've completed on Ebay as a seller.  Not sure what comparing that has to do with anything, but since you brought it up I was hoping it would make you feel better.

ALL sellers are required to adhere to certain rules.  One of those rules is that we all have to have return policies that meet or exceed the MBG.    If you want to file for a return, you can file for a return but that is up to you.

Now if you are outside the dates of eligibility for opening a claim, that is a different story.

Hi @jersey1609

Are you willing to provide the Item Number or copy & paste the 'Category' of the item?  [Sometimes sellers wrongfully list items in a Category that doesn't permit returns.]

The best way to contact eBay currently is on social media:

https://twitter.com/askebay
https://www.facebook.com/eBay/

If you can't get help from eBay for some reason ... I'm sure you're aware that you have PayPal or your credit card issuer to turn to for help.

You didn't state the reason for your return or provide an item # to look at, but if you want to return because the item is not as described then you CAN open a return if you are within the 30 return window. This is stated in eBay's Money Back Guarantee (link found on any item listing).

Whether or not the seller is required to take remorse returns is based on the seller's return policy shown on the Shipping, returns & payments tab. That return policy controls whether eBay will allow you to open a remorse return (not what is stated in the description).

Look at my post of 4-12-23 3:20 am. I was merely pointing out that I know how to initiate a Return; but with this purchase, when I tried to do a return, I got a message that the buyer did not accept a return of this item. What was I suppose to do??. My second email to the seller finally made an impression and he is accepting a return of my item.  Geeeeezzzzzz
