Item Damaged During Shipment

An item I sold arrived damaged and unusable.  Is it possible for the seller to recover the cost of the item and shipping charges when the buyer receives the item damaged?

Item Damaged During Shipment

Ask the buyer for photos of the item and the box.  If the item is not useable, I assume you do not want it returned, so you can just refund the buyer form your list of sold items. You refund the buyer, then the insurance reimburses you, if approved.

Then file a claim with the carrier.  If sent usps, go to usps.com to file the claim.  If ups or fedex, see this page for instructions - https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/shipping-items/shipping-insurance?id=4643&st=3&pos=1&query=Shippin...

If approved, the claim generally pays for the item, but not the shipping.
