Incorrect search results

Why is the search function yielding results that are NOT in my search? For example,  I search Don Mattingly PSA10 and the first anything "Mattingly" appears at result #9! Everything before it is some other player with nothing to do with my search and this is just ONE example.  Such a crappy experience trying to find what I'm looking for on ebay.

The search function does leave a lot to be desired. You can get better results using the advanced search option and select "exact words exact order" or "exact words any order". You can also put your search terms in quotes. For example searching for "don mattingly" "psa10" returns what you are looking for.

That's odd. When I search for:

Don Mattingly PSA10

All the top results include "Mattingly."

This sounds like eBay is expanding your search to find things that you didn't want.  They do that. 

Learn about Automatic Search Expansion at this Singapore Help page  https://www.ebay.com.sg/pages/help/search/expanding.html   This article used to be in the US site too, but for a reason unknown to me they've removed it.  Note that the article says that using an operator defeats ASE. 

What I usually do is to put one word inside quotation marks.  In your example, I would put Mattingly inside the quotes, like this:  Don "Mattingly" PSA10   See if that helps.  Good luck.
