Identical bids from the same person, other bids are gone

Hello.  I have an item listed for sale.  I had 6 bids and the price was up to $56.  I went in today, and the listing now shows only 2 bids and I am at my initial offering price.  When I opened the item, it shows that the same person put in identical bids.  I am wondering what is going on?

The person bid $56 and raised their bid to $59. $56, $57, $58, $59 = four increasing bids from the same person, but will show $56 unless someone tries to outbid them. Then the person retracted their bid, so the price fell down. Now you have two bids from one person, their highest bid likely is $55, but it will show your starting price since there is no competing bidder.
