I need help. Purchased item, changed my mind, tried to cancel with seller, no response, started a return to get a return address then decided to keep the item instead and closed the return, only the item never arrived, seller closed his account and took the money. ebay won't help, it keeps telling me my return was closed. yes, that was when i decided to keep the item, but the item never came!!!!!! and now i have no recourse!

@rasinari1911 Never start a return on an item that you have not received yet.
Since eBay closed the seller's account, that's the only way it could be closed this soon after a sale, you will have to file an item not received refund request on PayPal.

Escalate the dispute to paypal if the seller doesn't refund you after a few days. If you do not escalate the dispute the case closes after 20 days and you lose.

Or if you did not pay using PayPal you can file a chargeback with your bank or credit card.

thank you so much. yes, i learned the hard way not to open a return before receiving the item. i will have to contact my bank, because i'm not set up with paypal. thank you again for your quick response. good day.

just an update. because i had filed and closed the return, i have no recourse.
i cannot get an actual person on the phone from ebay at any of the customer service numbers listed, the automated service just keeps sending you in circles.
i don't have a paypal account, so they can't protect me.
and my own walmart card bank representative said they wouldn't take the charge off because they have already paid the seller.
so, i'll have to chalk this one up to learning from a mistake and a bad experience.

@rasinari1911 Sorry that happened to you. I recommend a better credit card company, most will cover you if the item was never received or significantly not as described.
You can try contacting a CS rep but they usually will not re-open cases. Social media is the best option.

Scroll to the bottom of the screen, click "contact us" Drill down to the topic you need assistance with.
Then on the left hand side select chat with automated assistant. When the chat box pops up if live help is needed click "see more" then click "contact an agent". This bypasses the chat bot and you can either chat with or get a call back from a real person.
If you are using a cell phone turn off the spam filter or it may block the call back

To speed things up you can leave your registered account information in the PRIVATE message: Full name, address, phone number, email address, user ID, and a brief explanation of your problem.
