Customer bought a spring serving bowl and received it prior to Easter. 7 days after it arrived, they advised me that it had arrived with the handle chipped and broken. I believe they used it for the holiday and broke the handle and now are claiming it was damaged in shipment though it wasn't pictured as shipped but out on a table. I sent them a reply asking why they waited a week to advise me that it was broken on arrival and no reply. I contacted eBay and they said that it was suspicious but I am still being asked to accept their return.

Did the buyer request the return through eBay (there is a case open with eBay on this)? If they did, here are your options:
1. Accept the return, pay for return shipping, refund them when the return package is delivered.
2. Accept the return, let them keep the item, refund them now.
3. Deny the return, the buyer asks eBay to step in, eBay tells them to keep the item and refunds them from your funds/account, you get a defect on your selling account.

Thank you for taking the time to reach out and give me your advise. I tend to trip over myself at times as I always try to do right by the customer but I just know that this time they lied. When the opened the case with ebay they did a INAD which would have been my first. Ebay chat was no help at all but the facebook group was able to have the defect removed as they read the conversations and saw what they did. I knew that with the 30 day refund I would have to pay it out but it just irritatated me that someone would lie. Oh well, thank you again for taking the time to help a newbie.
