I sold a $950 sink back in July. The buyer kept the sink until the 30th day then asked to return it. I accepted the return. The sink was damaged when I received it back. I had paid PakMail to professionally pack it and it was still very well packaged even though I could tell the buyer had taken it out of the package and repacked with the original packaging. I called ebay and asked what to do about receiving back a damaged item. I was told (and I had called a couple different times to see if I could get a “second opinion”) to let the return run its course and close out automatically, let the auto-refund kick in and then call ebay and file an appeal. “eBay will back you” is what I was told. Of course just the opposite happened. I got a generic email telling me how things like this happen and this is the cost of doing business. I appealed and got the same response. So I gave up on ebay and went to UPS. Of course they, too, denied the claim initially, but after I showed pictures of the packing and the receipt where I paid a pro to pack it, they approved the claim on Dec 7, about 5 months later. However, UPS paid EBAY and NOT me!!! I have been on the phone with ebay reps almost every single day since discovering the claim was paid to ebay and ebay refuses to refund me. I keep getting the same generic response, this case was already appealed and cannot be reopened. of course everybody I speak with speaks broken English and don’t seem to understand what I am explaining to them. I keep repeating myself, I’m not asking for the case to be reopened, I am asking for eBay to forward me the UPS money. They paid ebay instead of me since it was on their label. So to date, I have no Sink, I have no $950, and now eBay has been enriched $950. What on earth can I do?

Was it damaged during the original shipping or the return shipping?

I don’t know and I have no way of knowing. The buyer never mentioned it being damaged, just asked to return it

Both origination and return labels were on eBay’s account so I would’ve been in this mess regardless. The point is, I did all the due diligence fighting with UPS and providing all the evidence, etc only to have them pay eBay. Had eBay “backed” me like they claimed they were going to and had refunded me, they’d be entitled to the UPS claim. But they didn’t do **bleep** and now they’re enriched
