How to use multiple gift cards for a purchase?

So I looked it up and it turns out Ebay allows using multiple gift cards for a purchase.

I can't figure out how you use multiple gift cards. I tried using paypal and when I clicked the drop down for paypal after adding my first card and clicked "add a card..." below my first card it came back with "Things don't appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later."

When I decide to attempt to see if I can just add my cards to Ebay directly there is no button from what I can see that allows me to add another card.

What kind of gift card?

You can use up to 8 eBay gift cards during checkout.

During checkout, select Paypal as your payment method, then log in to your account.  Once logged in, you should be able to scroll down on the checkout page & apply your eBay gift cards in the redemption code box ( one at a time).

But you can only use one VISA, MC, AMEX, Discover gift card during checkout.

Then why does it say you can use more than one gift card if it means you can only use more than 1 ebay gift card?

That link refers to eBay issued- gift cards, gift certificates, coupons & vouchers, not prepaid debit cards.

As of June 2020, the new limit is 4 gift cards per transaction or 3 gift cards and 1 coupon.  I don't understand the logic behind this move but I don't like it.
