I recently sold an item and purchased the default ebay shipping label.
As the item was bigger than ebay assumed, the shipping amount was not sufficient and I instead re-purchased the shipping at the post office.
So, I wanted to update the tracking number on the sellers site, but the new number is not being accepted. I informed the buyer by a direct message, but thought that it would be best to update the info on ebay also.
How do I do this?? (I've double checked that the tracking number is correct. It's a weirdly long 34 digit number.)
Yours in hope,
A frustrated newbie.

Yes, you absolutely need to update it on eBay to avoid a ding to your seller metrics.
You'll see an Edit tracking link next to the transaction in your Order list. You can't change the tracking #, but you can add an additional number. (It's fine that the original # stays there...the correct # is the one that will update.)
Did you void the label you didn't use? If not, be sure to do that within 5 days of purchase here:

It will take about 14-21 days for the refund to come through.
