How to ship large items

I need to ship large items like car doors, or car hood, car engine. How to ship them? I was uneble to choose shipping through eBay, and local UPS office gave me estimate for car door about $300 shipping fee. I see some people even offer free shipping for such kind items. How to ship them?

Best to list these types of items for local pickup only.  Otherwise you need some really deep discounts to ship them further than a local trucking company would do within neighboring states.
