How to return a fake item after eBay has closed a case?

If I started a case and I was not able to send the product back by the date tht eBay gave due to my being n the hospital and not being able to get it to the post office or anything but was able to get it mailed off soon after the date eBay gave before closing the case, how can I still get my refund for the product tht I bought because it was a fake product and wasn’t real nor genuine and I asked to make sure from the seller before I bought the item and they assured me tht it was real and when I got the item and checked thru apple they told me that it was not real and they didn’t work properly either. The seller stopped communicating with me and stopped responding to my messages altogether after I told him it was a fake item and asked for a refund as well. How do I handle trying to get a refund now because I can’t afford to lose money on a limited income and was unable to meet tht deadline due to my illness and being n the hospital. Somebody pls help.

Unfortunately, as it relates to the Seller and the return you filed but were not able to return within the claim time frame there is nothing you can do nor is the Seller responsible to refund you. 

You "may" be able to supply eBay directly with medical information to prove why you were not able to return the item and they "may" give you like a one time courtesy refund ... but there are no guarantees with that approach.

Both eBay and the Seller are blind to what goes on in the personal lives of their customers and without proof neither party can rely on messages written to them as a form of proof.  Believe it or not but scammers will say the same thing or say whatever they think a Seller will accept to get them to do something they don't have to do.  

While I am truly sorry this situation happened to you I can also see eBay and the Seller's side of how things need to be handled with specific time frames and proof of circumstances.

Check the tracking information on the package you mailed.  Once you see it has been delivered back to the seller … phone the credit card company you used to pay for the item and request a chargeback.  That’s the easiest way I know to get refunded in this situation.

@jlewis1430.  I would contact my bank or credit card about an item that is significantly not as described.   

You may need to provide tracking information that shows the item was returned to the seller.
