I listed a phone I purchased for my mother on ebay. She used it for a few months and decided she no longer wanted a cell phone. When I listed the item, ebay finds "similar" items and gives you the template to list. I followed this. In the description, (which I cannot find the original listing anymore) I stated that this was a phone I purchased for my mother who used it a few months, and decided she didn't want a cell phone. I said that the phone looked brand new - even still had the protective coverings on it. I also said I didn't know what unlocked meant - but that we had used it with Sprint and then switched to TMobile. I stated that after resetting it I wasn't able to see what the memory was without restarting the phone, so I had selected the minimum memory. I then stated that I didn't have the charging cord - and that I had used my husbands cord to charge the phone and make sure it turned on etc.
Well - the buyer purchased the phone and was "desperate for the phone because they had just dropped and shattered their phone". So, on a Sunday, I drove to the nearest USPS that was open and paid extra to ship it out to them, so that would have it as quick as possible. Thought I did a nice deed.
Today, I find out they want to return it because it indicated it was BRAND NEW in a SEALED BOX. I NEVER said that...ever. I'm not sure what to do.
Ebay sent me a message saying that I would have to pay for the return shipping (really??? I already spent extra sending them their item priority) - or offer to refund them and let them keep the product. Again, really? I stated the condition of the item in the description.
I am not really sure what to do or how to handle this. I am struggling for money as it is - and this is so very upsetting to me. I feel that I went out of my way to help this person - and now I have to be out shipping - out money and out the product? Seems very unfair - and there is no way to speak with anyone from ebay.
This may just be my LAST transaction with ebay for sure.
Any advice would be appreciated.

You only two options:
Accept the return, pay return shipping and give a full refund once something is returned.
Refund and let them keep it.
Sorry, that's your only options. and you have a short time to decide.
If you don't and the buyer ask Ebay to step in, they'll refund the buyer from your account, let them keep the phone, give you a defect and they'll keep their fee's.
