I won the bid on an item I planned on using a coupon on but the auction ended early in the morning & eBay automatically withdrew/paid the whole amount before I could use the coupon. Not to mention this plays HAVOC with you checking account!!

You stop the automatic payment by checking out manually using the Pay Now link on its entry in your My eBay: Purchase History during the 1 hour window to do so.  If "no action is taken" within the hour eBay will automatically charge your funding source.
