How long does ebay keep inactive accounts

My daughter has (or had, apparently) an ebay account but hasn't logged on in so long. She has the username but doesn't remember the password and the email account associated with it is long gone.  She tried putting in the username and ebay said user couldn't be found. Does ebay dispose accounts if they're dormant for a certain period of time? She was always in good standing. She had a good feedback score and was looking to not start over from scratch.

She has to have the email address that was linked to the eBay account. Since she doesn't, the eBay account can not be used, sorry.

Why can't she write to us herself? If she's younger than 18, she can not own an eBay account and should be supervised by an adult if she uses someone else's account with their permission to buy.

Thanks for responding. She couldn't get into her account to post the question. She is in her 40s though, so not an issue on that part 😉

There was a hacking issue several years ago … and eBay sent out multiple messages asking members to change the passwords on their accounts. 

Those accounts that weren’t changed after months were deleted … so that they couldn’t be hijacked by scammers.

Your daughter’s account is probably no longer available … especially if she no longer has the email account associated with it.
