It depends on EXACTLY what the "mistake" is.
The general rule is that you don't withdraw your bid. When you placed your bid you promised to keep that bid on that item (and pay for it if you won) absent a very few very specific extraordinary circumstances. If you think your "mistake" might be such an extraordinary circumstance, let us know specifically what it is (the reasons are very narrowly defined), when you bid, and when the auction ends and we can give you an accurate answer to your question (or an alternative solution, if there is one, to your problem). Or you may contact the seller and beg him/her to cancel your bid before the auction ends, but s/he is under no obligation to do so nor to acknowledge the request, and neither not responding nor responding that it's OK with him/her is among the valid reasons.

Hi @marbrac28
Message the Seller and ask them to cancel your bid. They will need your ID and the eBay item number to complete the bid cancellation process. I have done that on a number of occasions regardless of the reason.
If they do not cancel for you and you win the auction you will have to decide to either pay for the item or not. If you do not pay for the item the Seller can cancel on day 5 and give your account an Unpaid item strike. One in 12 months will not affect you buying on eBay but 2 will.
