Handling time

Here’s the problem. I sold an item via auction. I didn’t pay attention to what the handling time was it was set oct 24. I sent my package on Oct 16 priority mail. The buyer wrote me last nite on the 23 and said if my package doesn’t come by 24 he would give me negative feedback

(im going to text him in a bit to see if it did come today)

to avoid this problem again and to anticipate the slow postal system could  I have just changed the handling time to more days to allow for unexpected delays

Handling time

Since almost all packages arrive on or before the estimated delivery date, you don't need to change your handling time because one buyer is giving you a headache.

But why would you need to contact the buyer to ask if he received the package. What does tracking say?

Handling time

The package still hasn’t arrived he said

I lost my postal  receipt that had the tracking number so I have no way of knowing where this package is and why he hasn’t  received it yet

I know the Postal Service can be slow and there can be delays but I’m still wondering can I increase the delivery time

thanks for any help.

Handling time

Yes, you can increase your handling time in the listing form.

I use a one day handling time. I've shipped tens of thousands of packages over 19 years, and very few have been delayed (usually due to major weather events, COVID, or the holidays).

The bigger problem is that you don't have tracking uploaded to your transaction which will give you a ding on your shipping metrics and without it, you have no seller protection for claims of non-delivery.

Hi @bitofire

-If you do not upload tracking on the sold file you are at risk for losing an Item not received claim.

-If you print your labels through eBay you get a DISCOUNT plus the tracking is uploaded to the sold file automatically

-If you do not get a carrier scan because you never uploaded tracking then your account will get a Late shipping defect

-Your Handling time requires you to get a carrier scan of the tracking number (Acceptance scan) on or before the Handling time

-Since you had no tracking uploaded to the transaction the Buyer may have been threatening you with the Neg FB because they had no clue if you ever shipped the item ... even if you messaged them and told them you did they have no proof through eBay.
