Google Pay gives error then still charges the card multiple times

Unable to use Google Pay on Ebay but card was still charged. There are 2 issues. First - when trying to use GPay on Ebay this error message appears - "Please check your payment details or use a different payment option.". Tried twice with the same error result. I'm able to use GPay with the same card in other places without issues. Second issue - the bank shows that the charges were actually made, there are 5 temporary transactions, 4 with the full price of the item and Ebay transaction number and 1 with price $0 called temporary hold. The transaction number is identical on 2 of them, so I'm guessing since I tried twice it charged twice, but then also duplicated each charge for some reason. But Ebay purchase did not go through and Ebay shows no order was placed. I ended up using PayPal instead with the same card and it worked right after.
