eBay takes out the trash and deletes messages older than 6 months automatically. Until then, they are stored on eBay servers for reference if needed (by either you or them). They do not reside on your computer...they belong to eBay. You merely have a view into them.
What you can delete are the copies you receive through your email account (though have saves mine in case I need them after six months has past, stored in a separate folder).
