We only get one shot per item to open a claim with eBay.  You can open one with PayPal, however.  Start the process using the following link in order to get return shipping reimbursed:

Mention in the claim that you closed the return case with eBay by error ... and cannot reopen it.  Also BE SURE to escalate the claim after 7 days so that it doesn't time out on you.
