Ebay tells me my email address is already in use when trying to update my address? I only have one a

Getting more frustrated as I can only post about 20 words so it's hard to ask a question!

Well I'm finding the reply window allows more text so I will ask the question now. I have discovered ebay is using a dead email address that hasn't been available to me for years.  I'm sure I updated to my current address also years ago.  When I try tu update my address I am told my address is already in use!  I have only had one eBay account for 19 years. I'm using the same user name since creation of my account.  My current email address has been my only address for 14 years.  There has only been one other adress associated with eBay, the original address I used when creating the account and there for I didn't accidentally ever log in using the address eBay is forcing me to keep.  I suspect Google has something to do with this mix up!

 So can anyone tell me how to fix this?  I have tried to follow instructions on this forum but they fail because at the end I get told my email address is already in use, try a different address!

You will need to contact eBay customer service for assistance with this.  You can contact customer service using this link:  https://www.ebay.com/help/home  and click on the white Contact Us box at the bottom of the page and answer the questions so eBay can classify your required help.  Customer service hours are 5am to 9pm Pacific Time.

If eBay says your email address is already associated with another eBay account, you will have to use a different email address for this account.

Usually that happens when a user signs in using a social media account associated with that email address for the first time and another eBay account is created.
