Ebay return policy

I have a buyer that purchased a brand new sealed Seagate 4TB external hard drive, it was shipped out the next day and i listed the other one i had that was the same only it was a 5TB, the same buyer purchased this one also soon after it was listed, and now has opened a defective return for the 1st Seagate purchase. I have handled defective returns in the past and have yet to actually have a defective item, so the Ebay policy puts me the seller either testing and reselling a used item or having to do what the buyer ignored which was sending said item in as a warranty claim. I understand the Ebay return policy but am wondering why a seller is held responsible and has to go thru the return hassle when in my opinion he knew he would return the 4tb when he bought the 5tb from me also. And whats the use of selling a sealed warranty item that Ebay allows the customer to return to seller as a used item, If the item has a 1 year warranty. I believe the Ebay policy only favors the buyers because for WHATEVER The reason ALL the buyer has to say is defective, OK if its under warranty don't send it back to seller file a warranty claim and the defective claims would be cut at least 50%, so tell me fellow sellers what can be done to protect us against mind changers when all they have to claim is defective and Ebay sends us back used items.

Ebay return policy

@dixielawns   Sellers and eBay have no control over the honesty or dishonesty of Buyers ... below is a link to Seller Protections, you can probably deduct 50% of the item price if it was opened and withhold the original shipping to help cut your loss and then after testing and confirmation that it works sell it as open box (unless the Buyer returns it still sealed) ... use the Report Buyer link on the item because even if they send a sealed unit back they lied about the return reason which to me is fraud.
