Ebay needs a complete house cleaning and restoration to fundamentals that work.
The top level of management is the problem here causing collateral damage with bad decisions and cheap gimmicks that they try (and fail) to pass off as innovation. Examples are:
1.) Extremely poor and difficult customer service management where AI chat robots are the first line of defense.
2.) Per #1, even when you do get ahold of someone, they are not empowered and usually tell you 'this is the way it is'. before 2020, It did not manifest as this.
3.) Deals, Ebay bucks, perks, Coupons are all gone or extremely conditional. This is a negative incentive now and a sign that this is a company in trouble. Even when you get a discount to use, Ebay has some auto rule to negate it. And good luck in using the ersatz customer service to try to get resolution... LOL - go try and use the SHOPCYBER20 coupon. It is laughable.
4.) Unstable platform rollouts- The new messaging is a complete debacle and nearly unusable. Why did Ebay rollout a fix for something that had no problem? It is impossible to manage messages now. received versus sent has no meaning now.
5.) Destroyed business event meaning and unstable platform rollout redux - The changes with auto pay and best offers and bidding remain a disaster. The Check out and basket features have been rendered unusable with this feature. Bidding and best offers are separate business events and have no business being linked to your credit card up front .. especially if you want flexibility in distributing and choosing how to pay as well as using ebay gift cards
There are several others that I can cite but this is proof that Ebay, YOU have a big problem. It is little wonder why active users have declined by 30% in the last 5 years. Ebay needs to stick to it's core principles and not try to be a smart phone 'pick and click' in it's entirety.
These are problems caused by poor, opaque management.
We want your journey here to be as great as can be, so we have put together some links to help you get quickly familiarized with the eBay Community.
