Easy Alternative to USPS Priority for newbie?

HI all, 

Im an ocassional seller, not full time or anything. So in the forums I learned the easy way to deal with ship is to use Shipping Calculator and use USPS Priority - easy peezy. 

Curious on easy alternative when I may not have a USPS Priority box? (ideally in same range of cost as USPS Priority, able to insure if needed and signature required). Suggests?
