EBAY FEES AND THE CONFUSION!?!

Why is it so confusing to figure out the eBay fees it's not supposed to be complicated. However they make it so complicated so that you can't figure it out. I feel like I need a master's degree in eBay fees to figure out why I'm being charged the amount to sell . I'm sure within 1 hour I could come up with a basic fee chart that would be self-explanatory. I truly cannot figure out the reason why they make it so complicated and have such variation on their fees** based on items that you sell **based on categories that you sell the item in  **based on when you post the item **based on how you post them**based on shipping cost **based on promotions**based on if you have a store or not**based on if you were born before 1982 and have red hair**based on if you're right foot is one size bigger than your left foot or if your middle finger is longer than your index finger but vice versa is 10% less upside down backwards and all around **based on whatever they feel like being based on**I am truly baffled by this I cannot understand how they expect people to really keep up so my only conclusion is they don't want you to keep up. Even when they explain it it's not a simple chart it's five paragraphs of explaining between charts of numbers and categories and then you look at the next chart and the same items are now a different percentage. For example musical equipment is 12%, but then you scroll down and see guitars are actually 15%, so which is it ...are guitars music equipment or not? again just confusion for no reason.

EBAY FEES AND THE CONFUSION!?!

It really isn't that complicated.  You pay a % on the total from the buyer, including tax and shipping, plus $.30.  The % is determined by the category in which you list the item.

The chart isn't that hard to read - you just have to read the entire line.  So "Musical Instruments & Gear > Guitars & Basses" are 6% up to $7,500, 2.35% for any portion above $7,500. That is the only line with musical instruments, so anything in Musical Instruments & Gear that is not in Guitars & Basses is 12.9%.

You can choose to pay additional fees, like promoting your item to put it higher in search, or a bold title, but you don't have to.

Most sellers have items in just a few categories, and just ignore the rest.
