Don't use ebay if you're a private seller

@AskeBay Hello, I want to report an issue regarding false claims made by buyer to claim free postage on returns. I am becoming disillusioned with the returns system. Customers are claiming item is faulty so that they can claim free postage on the return. Recently a customer claimed the item is not as described to claim free postage on the return. When the item arrived back it was abvious that the package had never even been opened. I sent a report to Ebay to say the system was being abused. I have asked the customer desks both on the call and through the chat, and it seems there is no other choice for me but to accept the return. Not really much ebay can do, they have no idea it's a false claim. you can report it but it's rare for ebay to take action. I have paid both original and return postage labels up to £12, and eBay only credits seller up to £3.5.

I lose £9 for nothing over this hassel. Don't use ebay if you are a private seller.

@jianas_0   This is ebay.com the US site. Ebay UK likes to send us visitors.

I don't know the rules for the UK site but here in the US non-business owners and regular sellers are subject to the same policies of the money back guarantee.

Yes there is some abuse by buyers filing false returns. The buyer has to be reported a few times as abusing the return system before eBay will take action.

Here's a link to the UK community where you can discuss that UK policies

This is ebay.com, the USA site.  We don't have "private sellers" here.  In fact, I think the majority of sellers sell with a personal account.  We have the same problem with returns.  Buyers know that if they say the Item is Not as Described, that the seller pays return shipping if they want the item back.  If the item is as described, we can only report the buyer for abusing the Money Back Guarantee.  I have seen posts in the past from buyers stating that they can't file a return on anything because they have filed way too many cases in the past.  The item is as described, so relist it and raise the price.
