Howdy all,
I'm a new seller and have a question about the discrpepancy I'm experiencing between estimated shipping costs in eBay's online calculator and the shipping costs given through the app. This has happened everytime I have compared the two. The most recent example from today 6/05/22: I like to type my posting online, save as a draft then switch to the app to post the pics from my phone. I calculated shipping through for my latest listing though the app and got a USPS First Class rate of $4.50 to $5. I saved my draft and switched back to the listing online (Windows Laptop). The USPS First Class rate I received online was $3.81-$4.15, nearly 20% lower than the app. Any idea which rate I'll actually get? If I complete the listing online, will I get that estimated rate instead the app estimated rate? I charge for shipping so this obviously affects what I charge (I go with the higher app rate so as not to possibly lose money, though I still want it to be accurate and fair for the buyer).
The weight (I use a scale) and box size are exactly the same for both instances - I check that they match in both the app and online tool.
I called eBay CS about this and did not get a helpful or clear answer.
Thanks for any insights or shared experiences you can give.
Cheers,
Nash

Appears the app is giving you the retail rate and the PC is showing you the ebay discount rate. Note that you can select which the buyer sees and pays in your Shipping Preferences.
As far as why the app shows the retails rate, you'd have to ask on the appropriate app board (under the Buying & Selling tab).

Ignore. I just realized I can edit the original post so this one is irrelevant.

That's it! Mystery solved. I'll be delving a little deeper now into my preferences to fine tune things. Thank you for the response
