Discount for using app wasn't applied

I got a popup about getting $10 off my next purchase if I purchased through the app, so I downloaded the app, and made my purchase that way, but I didn't get the discount. Any ideas?

Where you signed in when you scanned the QR code to enable the discount? 

Did you put the item(s) in your cart first so you could see the discount before you checked out?

I was signed in on my desktop, but not my phone, and no, I hadn't put it in the cart yet.

Did you scan the QR code shown on your desktop with your phone?  You must do this to get the discount before you purchase.

I scanned the code on my phone and then made the purchase on the app on my phone.

That should work.  I then always put the item in my cart to make sure the discount shows up before checking out, which is always has.  So not sure what the problem is.
