Customer Service

I could be misinformed, but it looks to me as if eBay has switched to a totally unreasonable and inflexible non-human "Customer Service" model. Let's face it, eBay's Customer Service was always a bit of a gamble (how are your translation skills? Do you speak Mandarin? Hindi? If not, you might be out of luck trying to explain your situation, however simple), but then it switched to "Have eBay Call You Back!", not great, but that version did once provide me with useful help. NOW, your only option for help is to use the CHATBOT (Re: Useless), Reach out to the "community", or make some other online appeal. IS this a temporary set-back for a company that now takes 20 percent of my earnings? Like low-staffing issues due to Covid? Or is this permanent? Because there are many, many issues that come up on eBay that really require HUMAN CUSTOMER SERVICE. When did this company switch to an all-profit-we-don't-care agenda? It's pretty lousy when one unreasonable person leaves your business a rotten, undeserved FB rating and there is nobody to help. It's all done by computers, including caps on selling and algorithms that control it all. eBay makes me sad. I love my business and my customers (Milton Glaser, Thurston Moore, Bob Gruen, and Leo Castelli among them), but I wish I could break-up with EBay.

That neutral isn't going to hurt anything, but your reply might.

Buyers are allowed to give their opinion in feedback.

You could report the feedback you left for the buyer, since we are not allowed to leave negative comments for buyers.

Have a great day.

You can't list other people's personal information on this worldwide Public community board. The names may be removed by the community monitors.

And by the way, eBay does NOT take 20% of your earnings.  You pay the Final Value Fee, usually 12.5%  on the amount the buyer pays, which is the price, the shipping charge and the sales tax.  You receive the rest of the price and shipping, while eBay remits the sales tax to the State that the package is delivered in.

Wow, you get a lot of advice on here from newish account holders who aren't selling anything. From my vantage point, if you include promoted listings and fees, it feels closer to 20 percent. At any rate, it is too much of a percentage to treat customer service like an afterthought. It is making me re-calibrate my e-commerce decision making.

Remove the names, most of them are dead anyway.  The estate of blah blah, etc. Better?

Thanks. You are correct; the latest info graphic says eBay charged me 17 percent of my earnings.

I was actually successful in reaching a helpful live human who was very nice. Unfortunately, the follow-up message I received from eBay demonstrated that she did not fully comprehend my issue, and therefore the problem remains unsolved. Still, I do appreciate being able to speak with a thoughtful and informed eBay representative.  Thanks!
