Combined Shipping -- Is there a tutorial?

Usually some shipping cost reduction shows up in the shopping cart to indicate the combined shipping has a benefit, but what does it mean when all the shipping costs are the same as they were before?    I guess I don't understand Combined Shipping afterall....Can someone bring me up to speed?

Each seller sets his own rules for combined shipping.  This can range from no extra cost for additional items, to no discount for multiple items and everything in between.

Check the shipping tab when you are considering multiple purchases from the same seller - if it doesn't indicate the seller will combine shipping, or doesn't mention some savings on multiple items, then the seller is not offering a discount.
