Classified add vs. Buy it Now help

Just had an experience on an attempted car purchase that was shown as a "Classified Ad" with a price of $35,979.00. My first offer was low at $33k with which they responded by declining the offer with no comment made whatsoever (no mention of the car having been sold). I immediately sent a full price bid along with a note to please contact me with banking information to complete the transaction. Nobody responded but it was a Sunday so I assumed that was normal despite them having declined my previous offer moments earlier. So I sent a subsequent message with contact information for the dealer to be able to contact me at their convenience, I assumed Monday morning. Being a dealership located in the eastern side of the country I accounted for the time difference and waited until late morning to reach out, making it afternoon their time, plenty of time to have reached out. When I called I was told they had taken a deposit on the car and that the client was picking it up the following day and that they would call me if it fell through. So I mentioned perhaps they should suspend the auction or remove it since Ebay appears to consider paying full asking price on a "classified ad" as a "buy it now", or do they? The reason I ask is when I attempted to plug in a flat amount of $36,000.00 for the car it would not allow it and stated that I could not pay more than the "buy it now" price.

A day later, and two unanswered messages later asking if the car had in fact sold, the car is still listed as being for sale. Perhaps I don't understand the rules but I consider it poor etiquette at best to have an item listed with an exact price, not an auction, that is no longer available. Isn't that defeating the point of this platform? Knowing any item currently posted is available for purchase has always been my understanding. This seems to fly in the face of that premise so wondering if I'm off base with that assertion? I've never posted or asked anything previously, this is really just rubbing me the wrong way and was curious if my thoughts/feelings are valid or if I've missed the spirit of this platform as it relates to classified ad's?

All eBay vehicle sales (unlike normal eBay listings) are NON- binding; eith the buyer or the seller can walk away from the transaction without penalty.
