My father recently received information from his current internet service provider that they were being purchased and that the new provider was NOT going to be supporting the old companies email addresses within a few months. He has another email(Gmail) that he's had for a while and does use regularly. This weekend I attempted to change his Ebay address to this one. It turned out that at some point in the past he had setup an Ebay account using the Gmail account. I was able to recover the password for this account and signed on and he had never used it to buy or sell or even bid on anyway. I changed the address on that account to another account and then attempted to put the Gmail on his primary Ebay account (which he uses very regularly and has had for some time). It gave me an error and said the Gmail account was already in use on another account. I checked several times to verify that the Gmail account was NOT associated with the old Ebay account and even tried a password recovery for that account to see if the email was somehow was in use on yet another account.... Ebay said the Gmail email address was NOT in use on Ebay.
I'm at a loss at this point. He is a bit challenged with technology and I really don't want to have to setup an email account that would just be for use on Ebay. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on this issue and how I can reuse an email that was on one Ebay account on another Ebay account?

The only thing I can think of is that it takes a while for the database to update. So maybe try again? Other than that, I guess you need to contact eBay.
You can contact eBay Customer Support by following this link to the bottom and select "agent" to have them call you or you can use live chat:
