Changing email address - denied

My old email address is going away. I tried to change ebay to my new one but get a message it is already in use. It is not as far as I can see. Do have to close my current account and start over?

No. The message indicates that that email address is already associated with another eBay account.

Since each eBay account needs a unique email address, you must use a different email address for this account.
