I recently sold a Baseball card that was in immaculate condition while it was in my possession. I mean this card was never even touched by skin, just gloves, penny sleeves, then top loader, and even that was protected from scratches with a perfect fit sleeve. This card was delivered 4 days before the "claim" came in that it was scratched and/or had lines in it. Meanwhile, i take extremely high quality pics of all my cards (mostly for this reason) with a scanner. The places that he/she is claiming to be damaged are in absolutely perfect shape. Now, I am starting to think that this person is having buyers remorse because of what he paid for the card. Others are upwards of 40% less than what he paid for mine. He has made no mention of a possible partial refund. I have never experienced this before and am looking for some advice on how to navigate these stormy waters. I guess one thing I have is that this card is a numbered card and he never provided any proof that this was the same card. Also, in his pics, the card is completely taken out of all protections, so even if the card is the same, how am I to know that it didn't happen after he took it out? The really crappy part is that I was secretly hoping NOT to sell this card because I wanted to send it in to PSA (I was very confident in a minimum 9), but now with the way this thing looks, I'll be buying back junk that I didn't sell as such.
Has anyone had a similar situation happen? What happened? Did Ebay just automatically take the side of the buyer (like I've heard they do)? Seems like no matter what the outcome ends up being I'm gonna get the short end of the stick. I even suggested that if it is in fact damaged, that maybe the USPS was to blame, although I double wrap the card with cardboard on both sides in side a bubble mailer. I have had nothing but positive reviews regarding how I conduct my business.
