Hi
I opened my account in Europe over 18yrs ago - moved to the US some time later. Now with their new ridiculous policy I need to update the account info, but eBay has my id still set for the EU id number format and will not accept the US SSN - I have been chasing eBay for over a month and they have done nothing, as is expected with their new "eff you small seller" policy and their general level of idiocy.
I know some people have had similar issues but I haven't seen how they managed to solve it:
- Anyone in the same boat?
- Anyone knows if I can sue in small claims court before opening a complaint with eBay? I have asked to open a complaint and they have always said they would call me back...that was two weeks ago.
Or anyone knows of a decent alternative in which to sell used sporting goods? Honestly thinking of closing the account and be done with these incompetents.
Thanks
Regards

You could ask on the selling discussion board where more members can respond - I doubt if anyone who can respond here has had a similar problem.
I know the new system is not flexible, so I suspect they just do not know how to make the change for you. Have you considered opening a second ID for selling?
I would try reaching the payment team from the link on this page -

Thanks, will try and paste on the selling discussion board
I have tried contacting eBay at least once a week and having them get me through to the payment team: some of them seem to know what they're talking about, others don't, but none have helped solve the issue.
I did think about a second account, but I'd lose the ratings and would have to deal with blocked funds if I sold too many items, right?

Your second ID would not show the feedback of this ID, but you can link your 2 IDs - that should get you a better selling limit, and probably no hold on funds, but I can't say for sure.

Your registration shows you are located in the USA, and registered on ebay.com, so I don't understand why ebay would not accept your SSN.

"but eBay has my id still set for the EU id number format and will not accept the US SSN"
so I don't understand why ebay would not accept your SSN. - yes, that is why I am asking here, thank you
And as further proof of eBay's great service: I am still being billed in EUR even though I have asked them repeatedly to bill my seller fees in USD. I think it has to do with the above - some monkey has failed to pull on the appropriate lever and even though I show as US my account is still linked with EUR in some way

Could you tell me how pls? from what I can see either I have to use a 3rd party software (dodgy) or the community forums say it is no longer allowed - thanks

How to create a second ID? You need a second email account. If you don't have one, you can get a free email account from hotmail or gmail. I use hotmail.
Then sign out of eBay. Instead of signing in, click create account.
The linking to your existing account happens when you request a selling limit increase. The details are here -
I have 2 IDs, but I never sold on the 2nd, so I can only point you to the info. But lots of sellers use multiple IDs, so it is not unusual.

Thanks for the help. I will keep it in mind as a last recourse, but honestly would expect eBay to allow me to update what is a mandatory requirement they have come up with. Talk about irony.
Thanks for your help.
