Canceling a purchase

My husband got hurt and is in the hospital. A day before his accident it appears he won a car he was bidding on. The car is a long distance and now we are worried about money. We sent the seller a nice message explaining why we couldnt go on with the sale. Seller wont respond and has filed a unpaid case against my husband
