Buyer wants a return on an item he has broken

I sold an item that I have sold several of and this is the first issue I have ever had so far, I recieved a message that the buyer wants a refund since he broke a ball joint on a control arm that I sold him over a month ago. He broke the item after recieving it. I believe it’s roughly been 35 days since his purchase date but I would have to check again to confirm. I listed the item as new since it was and stated in my ad I don’t accept returns but this is the first time I’ve encounter this issue and can’t figure out if I have to accept the broken item back or if he is wrong for even asking. Please help

Hi @shawnpate7

If it's less than 30 days since the buyer received the item ... then the buyer is still covered by eBay's Money Back Guarantee.

You should accept the return before the buyer has a chance to bring eBay into the case.  They would likely refund buyer without asking them to return the item.  You'd also forfeit your fees and receive a 'defect'.

DO NOT try to fight something you can't win ... only lose more.

Their MBG kicks in the day they receive the item and they have 30 days after that to file a claim.

If they have filed an INAD within the 30 days, you don't have many options.

Either accept the return and pay return shipping or refund the buyer and let them keep it.

Have a great day.
