Did you mean:

Buyer request to ship item to a different address.

I got a direct message from the buyer of the shirt asking me to ship to different address. Can I do that?  Any reason I shouldn’t?

Buyer request to ship item to a different address.

You should not and cannot. Sellers must ship to the address provided by the buyer or lose seller protection.  Here is the proper way to handle the situation:

Make sure it is the buyer who sent the message.  Keep all messages within eBay messages (no emails or texts).   Then tell them you have to cancel the transaction (problem with address) and relist the item.  Then would then  buy it again, providing the correct address at checkout.  This is the ONLY way to do this.  Is it easy or quick--no.  But it is how it has to be done. @leanstead
