I sold an item for a buy it now price. The buyer paid immediately. I printed a shipping label and am ready to send the item on Monday. The buyer sent me a message saying they need to cancel their purchase. What are my options? The money is already in my paypal account. Can I refund them minus the eBay, paypal and USPS fees?
Can I refund them minus the eBay, paypal and USPS fees?
Why would you want to do that?
When you cancel the transaction at the buyer's request:
When you void the shipping label, you receive a full refund for it (though it takes about 2 weeks for it to come through.
You can either practice good customer service and handle this professionally (recommended), or you can refuse, in which case the buyer may make trouble for you later by claiming the item isn't as described and return it at your expense for a full refund.
Most sellers would cancel and then possibly add the buyer to their blocked buyer list here:

Once you cancel, you are free to relist.
To help protect yourself from problem buyers, go to your My eBay > Account tab > Site Preferences > Selling Preferences > Buyer requirements and block buyers who:
- Don't have a PayPal account
- Have received 2 Unpaid Item strike(s) within 12 Month(s)
- Have 4 Policy Violation report(s) within 6 Month(s)
- Have a feedback score of -1 or lower
Check the box at the bottom to prevent blocked buyers from contacting you.
