But It Now or Fixed Price Listings - Require Immediate Payment???

Whenever I list an item using Fixed Price or Buy-It-Now, it requires my buyers to pay immediately.  I don't have the "Require Immediate Payment" box checked.   I sell mostly sports cards so I prefer my buyers to buy as much as they like to  be able to combine shipping for them. Anyone have any thoughts?
