Bidding preapproval

Do you need pre-approval to bid $10,000 or more on an item? If so, how do you set that up.

There used to be fixed rule that you had to register a credit card to bid or purchase an item for a certain amount ($7,500 at one time).   That is no longer mentioned specifically in the Help Page on buying limits (where it was specifically set out in the past with the amount), now only a generalization that "We may limit your ability to bid on auctions or make a Best Offer if:   You are bidding on an expensive item . . ."    https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/buying-limits-restrictions/buying-limits-restrictions?id=4012&st=3&...
