Have you opened a Paypal account and registered your credit/debit card with them as well as
a checking account?

Have you linked your Paypal account with your ebay account?

All new members have bidding and buying limits.  Instead of making multiple bids on an item,
determine the most you are willing to pay and bid that amount ONE time, as late in the
auction as you are comfortable with.  ebay will bid on your behalf, keeping you in the lead as
other bids are made, up to your maximum.  If you win, great.  If you lose, someone else was
willing to pay more.
