Awaiting Delivery Scan from the USPS

What do you do when USPS marks my item that I shipped to a buyer as "Awaiting Delivery Scan".  I called the local Post Office and they told me that the package was delivered but due to the sorting equipment damaging the barcode on the shipping label so it could not be scanned as delivered.   I've sent a message to the buyer but have not got back any response.  Is there a way for the buyer to let the system know that the package was delivered so I can get my funds released to my bank account.  As it stands now I've shipped the item to the buyer the buyer has paid eBay/PayPal for the item and eBay has a hold on the funds until the item has been delivered.  Has anyone else ran into this issue?  Any help would be great.

@themadmullet   Your payment doesn't go to PayPal it goes to your checking account.

If the buyer leaves feedback saying it was received you MIGHT be able to get the funds sooner, otherwise you will have to wait 21 -30 days
