I have never used UPS as my shipping option. Recently sold item shows as UPS shipping and label produced was UPS. Now I must drive 40 miles round trip to take to UPS facility. I live 20 miles from nearest town.
Did I miss something. Is ebay now changing shipping options?
Plus, I have made 2 requests for eBay to call me through assistant. Message I received said expect call in 2 minutes, next request said 1 minute. First was made 25 minutes ago, next 10 minutes ago. No calls.

@beyondthevintagedoor Buyers can only choose the shipping method you have on the listing. From the shipping section on your listing>>
US $6.75 | United States | Standard Shipping (UPS Ground) |
You also had the shipping price set as a flat rate so the buyer is not going to pay actual shipping charges. You can't ask the buyer for more shipping $ than stated on the listing.
I recommend you VOID the shipping label here> https://www.ebay.com/ship/labels/seller-hub Click on actions drop down menu and then void. UPS will refund you about 21 days here> https://www.ebay.com/mes/transactionlist?sh=true
Next go to the shipping label page and select Print ANOTHER label to buy the correct label>
https://www.ebay.com/ship/labels/seller-hub On the label page on the upper right select switch to Advanced. Then you will see all of the shipping options. Enter the correct package size and weight and click on USPS then select Ground Advantage.

Thanks for info. I was not concerned about the price issue. I was concerned that it was UPS (I have been selling on ebay for 19 years, less recently due to numerous in hospital health issues) and I have never used UPS for my shipping source. my issue with UPS shipping is I live on a ranch in the middle of no where and nearest UPS store is 90 miles round trip. Was finally able to get package in UPS drop box (was so full had stick hand in drop box and rearrange to get my package in ) and that trip was 40 miles round trip.

@beyondthevintagedoor. The buyer can only select what shipping method you have on the listing.
As I copied and pasted from your listing you somehow ended up with UPS on the listing. How it was on your listing, eBay gremlins, or operator error is anyone's guess.
I suggested voiding the label and buying a new one so you didn't have to make the long trip. Sorry you didn't take that advice.

Since I have sold on eBay (huge amount years ago) I did not need scolded or schooled that my shipping rate was lower than shipping cost so I should not expect customer to pay more, yada, yada, yada. I did not ask nor was I concerned about a small loss on shipping. I have never listed something with UPS shipping and it seemed the gremlins had been messing with my account. It showed I ship internationally which I never want to do. I understand voided label, and all the other.
I wanted to get item to my customer in a timely manner so for one time I was willing to do whatever it took to get pkg to place to ship and time wise I was down to the wire. Having owned an antique business I do have some sense of business. It just seemed like eBay had done something while I slept. Just like Microsoft updates my computer with nonsense I don't want in the middle of the night. So, who knows?

@beyondthevintagedoor I am sorry if you thought I was trying to "school" you. I know nothing about your history or anything other than your question and the listing that I looked at.
I was trying to just state the facts based on what I could see of your listing and the fact that the buyer can't choose a different shipping method than is offered on the listing.
HOW the UPS was added to the listing instead of USPS is anyone's guess. I would blame eBay gremlins.
The solution I offered would have saved you a 40 mile drive and still gotten the package out on time with USPS. All you had to do is change the shipping and let the buyer know that you would ship USPS instead.
I wish you well in your sales and in life.
In the future if you don't want help from fellow sellers with practical solutions for when programing goes wrong on eBay but just want someone to take out your frustration on I recommend contacting CS>
Here's how to contact eBay customer service:
eBay agents are working from home so you have to request a call back or live chat.
1. CLICK THIS LINK:
https://www.ebay.com/help/eua?id=5275&mkevt=1&mkpid
2. Request a call back or live chat
( If you receive the automated chat assistant type AGENT in the small box on the lower right of the linked page then you will see the options to contact a live agent, you may have to answer the chat bots questions before it allows you to connect to an agent, this is so you are connected to the right department)
If you are located outside of US or Canada then you will need to use the Chat option or Social Media
3. Or you can also contact customer service by sending a PRIVATE message on social media.

I am sorry I came across so tacky. That is not who/what I normally am. But after clicking eBay solutions and going in circles I was at my wits end.
I do appreciate the links you have listed which I plan to save and use in the future. I do have a question that you may have some suggestions on. eBay has the "shipping policy" set up and you name your option women's shoes or men's boots for example. Then that shipping method is listed. I agree giving more than one option is a good idea so may use priority shipping option. I have read about the letting customer use calculated shipping then weight and package size would determine the shipping cost but article stated buyer's don't use/like that option.
So do you use the "shipping policy" or do you just put the real cost for each separate item. I have another question but want to check out the options available before I know exactly what to ask. Forgive me for my tacky responses. I have had numerous surgeries recently but am better and planning on listing hundreds of items so am trying to find best methods. Will send my next question after I research. Thanks for suggestions about the shipping policy issue.

My next question is about amount to list as shipping cost. Most of my items are clothing items since my husband and I are both retired, I have lost some weight so have new and pre-owned shoes, clothing items plus still have mainly vintage jewelry left from my antique store days. I would usually use USPS ground advantage so I checked to ship new shoes in original box: cost to Missouri is $10.26 but to California is $12.45. So I don't know how to list a shipping cost when you don't know where the shipment will be going.
Also, the day I was dealing with my UPS problem I did use the eBay customer service call back option. BUT...online message would say expect a call back in 2 minutes. I tried 3 times and my phone never rang. That only added to my already over the top breaking point. The problem was it was the day AT&T and other companies were down. So I was getting no response. This is beside the point because it would appear it was cell phone outage but our daughter works at a huge hospital in Missouri and their land lines were also out.
Again, I apologize for being so rude. Hopefully, you will help me with these questions or give me link to an article that address how to determine correct rate when seller does not know where package will eventually be shipped. Thanks

@beyondthevintagedoor No problem. I totally understand being frustrated and life issues getting in the way of how you communicate. Dealing with some major health issues myself right now.
eBay likes to advise sellers to use "free shipping". That can work for light weight items, say under a pound, and you add the shipping price to the item price. However for heavier items you end up charging buyers more than necessary that live close by OR you lose money on shipping.
Back to what I do..... I only use buyer pays > calculated shipping. I use Business Policies that I set up here>
https://www.bizpolicy.ebay.com/businesspolicy/manage?sellerAlreadyOptedIn=true
Since I used calculated shipping my policies are just named Ground Advantage + Priority etc. Not item types. I can see where naming it an item type ( shoes) would be helpful for Flat shipping. Flat shipping is fine if that works for you.
Another benefit of calculated shipping is when the postal services raise their prices, which they do every year, you don't have to worry about updating any of your listings shipping prices. If you use flat, or free, then you have to revise your listings or take a loss.
I can tell you more about combined shipping RULES (these are not business policies) that you can set up to auto combine shipping but they are not very accurate if you wish to charge actual shipping price for calculated shipping as they only combine weights and not package sizes. Here's a link to a post I made with some info on RULES and how you can use these. My example is for flat rate with X amount for each additional item>
Kind of tired this morning so I hope what I wrote makes sense. 🙂
Let me know if you have questions.
