App Integration to toggle sign-in of multiple accounts

I have two accounts on the platform and created the 2nd account because I wanted to expand the items I sell on the platform and each store contains items that are specific to a single category.

My question (or suggestion) is specific to being a seller or buyer and how notifications operate. Obviously, as a seller, it is a good practice to be aware of new notifications such as a message from a buyer/potential buyer, confirmed sale of items, etc. The options to receive notifications are via email and/or the eBay app (meaning a way we are passively notified without having to physically be on the platform). What devices are used to receive email notifications or app notifications? A combo of devices can be used but to keep it simple, mobile phones are obviously the main outlet.

Email notifications may not be only used for eBay as most people use email for many things. The eBay app is specific to only eBay. The issue is: A person can only be signed in to a single account at one time. In order to see notifications within the eBay app for a separate account, a person has to go to My eBay>Settings>Sign Out>Sign In>Enter credentials (if face recognition is on, look away an tap the screen to choose between additional saved credentials)>tap sign-in.

A simple fix is a toggle feature. Examples can be found on all major social platforms. Being able to know that all accounts can be signed in and receive notifications under a single app is, in my opinion, an efficient way to fix the current process. Additionally, I know it isn't a complicated process from a software development standpoint to be released as an update.

There are many reasons I personally bring up this topic in addition to the current process being inefficient and I'm sure it is different from person to person depending on their circumstances. If there are other ways that you are aware of to receive eBay notifications for multiple accounts, please share.

Don't use the app use the website. Then sign in the two accounts using different browsers ie Chrome, Firefox etc

I follow you but in order for me to become aware of these notifications, I would have to have my computer on, be near my computer (to hear a new notification or see it) and as you mentioned, have both browsers open. That scenario isn't realistic unless I'm misunderstanding your comment. If so, please elaborate. Thanks!

And Crickets....

Kind of sad that such an idea is requested in 2023/2024

I am truly curious what the IT/development teams talk about in improvement meetings. A simple feature readily available for years - a new definition for the term "Legacy"

This is a user-to-user board, and these boards are run by a third party on eBay’s behalf (Khoros). You will get no replies by eBay here (at least it is highly unlikely).

Have you considered signing into the eBay app with one ID and signing into the other ID with you web browser? Then just keep that tab open and dedicated to eBay and use other tabs for general browsing?

I do this on my iPad.

As a buyer, I prefer the search feature best on the app, but as a seller, I use the web browser (Safari) to handle anything else eBay related.

Unlike you though, I have turned off every notification possible. I don’t like the intrusions of all these apps… I just check Seller Hub several times per day.

Re: App Integration to toggle sign-in of multiple accounts

I appreciate the response and will admit my last message was an immature rant that wasn't needed.

I have done those things but I can't keep multiple devices open and don't believe it should come to that. I think of it like gmail or any platform where users are allowed to have multiple accounts. Switching between the two without having to log out completely and log back in with the new account credentials. Ebay allows multiple accounts and if I want to be aware of all buyer related notifications (messages, offers, sales, etc), I would think this feature is the simple and easy way to provide that. It would benefit ebay as well.

I do appreciate your advice and I honestly did not know the part about ebay not seeing the posts here. Thanks for letting me know. Ranting isn't something I want to be doing or wasting my time with either. I genuinely thought I was providing a potential enhancement that could help a large population of users and the company. Thanks for the insight and knowledge!

If it makes you feel better, I agree with you. I think many would agree that the app is lacking in many ways (combined shipping is still not possible on the app) after many (many) complaints and many years.

Constructive rants are fine and usually well received. I think most acknowledge a certain level of frustration with eBay, even when things are going swimmingly.

There is no perfect platform, but for what it is, eBay is the best, I think.

Well wishes to you. 🙂
