ok i've tried benton mackaye, who founded the trail..Bear Mountain State Park...which is on the trail...Calvin Coolidge because the Appalachian Trail conference” in Washington, D.C., was on the eve of his inaguration, Judge Arthur Perkins because he took over the leadership program, ATC for the program that was formed..(over 300 listings..lol)and i'm still looking

Unfortunately, the appalachian trail could even mean a specific highway or road. These clues are more than difficult. A few make sense to the actual answer, but not getting the significance of a lot of them. I should actually do some work now ! best of luck.
