It appears to be modeled along the lines of a Wheaton apothecary jar. I found one on Worthpoint with clear glass; but if you Google "Wheaton apothecary jar," you'll find a wide variety, including some in amber.
But, if yours is not marked "Wheaton," it may be a knock-off from the 1960s or 1970s.
Very unusual looking, though!

To test to see if it's actually vaseline glass put it under a blacklight. Real vaseline glass contains uranium dioxide, so it glows a bright fluorescent green under UV light. If it's not true vaseline glass it makes it more likely to be a reproduction.
