Door knob

Hi, can someone take a guess at what this door knob might be made with. It's very solid and heavy. There's a patent date of 11-20-28. Thanks

Appears to be mother of pearl. The same shellfish material used to make pearl handles on some pistols.

Wow- I never considered that. I was thinking Bakelite or something...lol
