Seeking Help w/Old Metal Thingamajig Soldier

HI.. This piece came from an estate sale and I am trying to figure out what it was used for. It is made out of some sort of metal either copper, bronze or brass. It is decorated with an eagle on top and two soldiers one on each side holding rifles. It stands upright approximately 10 inches tall. It has a round opening in the center of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have added pictures to my photo album called Thingamajig. Thanks, Bonnie

Evening............A quess would be a decorative piece-Cira 1880s ,made of iron coated in bronze.Hard to say for sure -without having it in hands. Hope someone else will come along with more information. All the Best -- Edited by dove3ducks at 07/20/2009 6:43 AM PDT
