Help! I'm new and need resources..

HI all, I am new to this whole venue, thanks to Jillian and need resources. I've seen that some of you place your ACEO's in acid free clear sleeves. Where do you get them? Is this the recommended way to package? Thanks, Sheryl

I'm newer Sheryl, but several of the guys and gals here sell the aceo accessories like the sleeves. That is how I got mine. I also enjoy purchasing aceos and have seen them packaged a few different ways. Many I've recieved have been supported with in a hand made cardboard type envelope or just folded over card board and then put in a cardboard envelope. Welcome aboard!!:) Jodie

Sheryl. Look in my store. Click on the 'red door' next to my userid. Sleeves are great. Also you can use top loaders. Check out 'collectibles' trading cards, supplies - you'll find all manner of items there. Soft and rigid. I use 6x6" CD mailers to post I buy in bulk from ebay business supplies 200 at a time, they work out to about 20 cents each. I find bubble envelopes are folded by the post office - though if you use a rigid top loader you'd be OK. Usually there is a monthly thread here for 'supplies and accessories'.

Help! I'm new and need resources..

I get plastic sleeves (acid-free) in the baseball card collecting section at Hobby Lobby. I get the toploaders in the baseball card section at Wal-mart. ebay prices may be better, but if you are in a hurry and can't wait for them to be mailed.... I put my cards in a sleeve, then put the sleeve into the toploader. The toploader is VERY stiff and should protect in almost any situation -- much better than cardboard. This also makes my cards almost moisture-proof. I have seen some artists then put the toploader in a ziploc bag -- wouldn't LEAVE it there -- ziplocs are NOT acid-free. I have started mailing in 6" x 9" bubble envelopes that I get at Sam's. I would prefer to mail in regular envelopes, but the Paypal shipping labels won't fit!!! One piece of advice passed along to me by the experts -- put your name and address somewhere safe ON the card or INSIDE the envelope. If the envelope accidently gets opened or the address on the outside gets messed up, the post office will be able to return the card to you! Welcome aboard!!! I am an OLD pro -- I've been doing this since mid-December 2006 (lol)! 🙂 Jana

Thanks all! I live 90 miles away from a real shopping center so ebay is going to be my resource for now. I am fascinated with all the talent here, and want to be like you! Sheryl

Help! I'm new and need resources..

Hello. I have a few tips. I'm super-new at this, but so far I've found a few ways to mail ACEOs without incident. I took old audio cassette tape cases and broke off the 2 "prongs" inside and stuck my business card over that ('cuz it may be sharp) with double-sided tape. Then I put double-sided tape on the back of my ACEO (canvas) and stick it on the other side inside the case. I don't like putting tape on it; but since I'm using canvas and painting with oils, it works out really well for a temporary housing during shipping. I've also used this same method but with CD cases that are emptied of the CD-holding layer. I don't want anything to rub against my painting during shipping, so this has worked great so far. (I've even gotten compliments from buyers.) And, the plastic cases are super-strong compared to many other options. (Note: CD cases do flex a bit, so be sure to place your canvas nearest to the opening edge, not the "hinge" edge.) The last few steps: I ziploc baggy it and put it into a bubble envelope. Then I tape it up like crazy, and also put a layer of clear tape over the person's address - so in case of water or other hazards, the address will remain intact. (My mother sends care packages to Russia, so I am well-trained in the "Wrap it like it's going to Russia" method.) 🙂 I will continue using this method until I can find a better one. I know I will not use this method when I send watercolors, since the double-sided tape will not be a good option for paper. I'll keep brainstorming and I'll let Groups know if I find a really great way that's not too costly. Good luck to you!!! -Jendria

There is some way to resize the postage print that we print out - maybe through the print preview. A friend of mine does it - as long as it is still legible, the post office will accept it, according to his experience. He has been selling "stuff" on ebay for awhile. -Cricket Diane
