First Attempt at ACEO!

Hi everyone! I came across this group earlier tonight and fell in love with the concept! I immediately cut a piece of masonite to size, gessoed it, and created my first ACEO! I'm not much of an artist, but I really think this could become an addictive hobby really quickly! Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us Cheers! Stormy

Stormy, it's adorable! GOOD for you!!!!! Listen, if you're new to aceos, please be sure to read Jeanne's Guides, they're in the "links" button to the left. Invaluable information there...I promise! Check the forums up top to be sure you go to the right threads...you'll get alot of great help there too. Good luck..and welcome! (oh, and stop by the "New Members say hello here" thread...that way everyone can welcome you!) http://groups.ebay.com/topic/Aceo-Art-Cards/New-Members-Toquestionsprotocol/New-Members-Say/16007158... Stormy, WOW! Thats a GREAT first ACEO!!!!! Welcome to our addiction! I can't wait to see what you do next! :) You might want to scan aceos for sale to see what the typical shipping prices are. I'm afraid your shipping price might deter some buyers from bidding. You can ship an aceo in a greeting card & envelope for less than a dollar & one in a padded envelope with delivery confirmation for less than 1.50, to give you an idea... We've all gone through that beginning process of figuring out all the details (like shipping) so I must say, if you have questions ask in these threads, or do a search in these threads for your topic. The people here are SO HELPFUL! Great job & best of luck with your new endeavor!! -- ~Sue :) my listings!http://stores.ebay.com/Wild-Watercolors-Art-Gallery_W0QQsspagenameZMEQ3aFQ3aSTQQtZkm

Thanks, Sue! Oops! I think that shipping price came from a previous auction I listed for 5 blank hardboard panels! I'll revise it as soon as my connection lets me browse a little faster! Thanks for pointing that out for me!

You may not be able to change your shipping, Stormy, but you can offer the winner a discount when you send them an invoice. I've bid on some of your gessoed hard board! I've been hoping to find something like that to paint on, so you're timing was good. Of course, I can't allow myself to paint until I've done my scratch art. :) AHHH!!! -- JeanneY

Thanks, Jeanne. I think that's what I'll do. I've listed several more pieces and adjusted the shipping accordingly. :) I hope you win/like the hardboard panels I have up for auction! Me, my fiancee, and his brother spent the better part of today cutting them, sanding them down, and then applying about 4 coats of gesso to them. In all, we made about 500 panels...whew! Needless to say, I need a shower because my hair is full of saw dust! HA! As soon as I get 10 feedbacks, those puppies will be listed as fixed-price items (5 for $5, 10 for $8.50, 25 for $20, and 50 for $37.50). So if you ever need more, check back and hopefully there won't be much of a wait. :) Stormy

Sue How do you ship in a padded envelope with Delivery Confirmation for $1.50? It costs me $2.05. I was told that you can't put Delivery Confirmation unless the package is at least 3/4 inch thick. julee

First Attempt at ACEO!

Hi Julee, You are correct on the thickness. I ship all my aceos in a white non padded 6 x 9 envelope, with my aceo sandwiched between foam core. It meets the thickness & weight. I can send it for 1 oz which is 1.13 plus .18 delivery confirmation total = $1.31 (online postage) or 2 oz. 1.30 plus .18 Delivery confirmation total = $1.48 (also online postage price). I charge 1.50 shipping, so I still have the cost of the envelope & foam core. I also have to cut the foam core small so the weight doesn't go over. But it ships very safely that way. (I do put my aceos in a resealable sleeve). Hope that helps.:) Sue -- ~Sue :) my listings!http://stores.ebay.com/Wild-Watercolors-Art-Gallery_W0QQsspagenameZMEQ3aFQ3aSTQQtZkm -- Edited by wild_watercolors at 01/28/2008 7:26 AM

Also, You could put your aceo in a top loader & throw a piece of bubble wrap or packing popcorn in the envelope for thickness. BUt you might want to also put the aceo into a baggy for additional protection. -- ~Sue :) my listings!http://stores.ebay.com/Wild-Watercolors-Art-Gallery_W0QQsspagenameZMEQ3aFQ3aSTQQtZkm
